ESL Program
Dept. Head: Bo Vladetic
At Westminster Secondary School, our English as a Second Language (ESL) program is designed to support and empower multilingual learners as they build their English language skills. We provide a nurturing and inclusive environment where students develop their speaking, reading, writing, and listening skills through tailored lessons and engaging activities that reflect real-world experiences and academic goals. Our program emphasizes not only language acquisition but also cultural integration, helping students feel connected to their peers and confident in their abilities.
Students in the ESL program benefit from individualized attention, interactive language exercises, and immersive learning opportunities. Our dedicated teachers use a variety of teaching methods, including group discussions, one-on-one support, creative writing projects, and reading comprehension activities, to ensure every student makes meaningful progress. By focusing on practical communication and academic language, we prepare students to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
Beyond language learning, our ESL program helps students build strong social connections. We encourage peer collaboration, cultural exchange, and active participation in school life. Students engage with a diverse range of literature, participate in discussions that expand their vocabulary, and explore different writing styles.
